While I find saving money at CVS satisfying, I also get great satisfaction out of helping others, and buying certain sales items at CVS this week allows CVS shoppers to be able to do both.
Among the free items after extrabucks rewards this week are 32-oz. bottles of Powerade and 1.25 liter bottles of Coke. After you're done enjoying your free beverages, the codes inside the caps of those items can be used on mycokerewards to spend on contests, merchandise, free Coke products, or towards several causes. Among the organizations to choose from are St. Jude's Children's Hospital, One Warm Coat, Special Olympics, Hispanic Scholarship Fund, and Coca-Cola Arctic Home ( a joint venture between the World Wildlife Federation and Coca-Cola to protect polar bears' habitat). The minimum point donation is 35 points for all of these causes except Coca-Cola Arctic Home, which is 70 points. More good news is that codes from Powerade, Powerade Zero, and Coke Zero have double value until Nov. 24. The end of the free items after extrabucks rewards on 32-oz. bottles of Powerade and 1.25 liter bottles of Coke is Nov. 21.
If you would rather donate to a local cause, you can donate your points to a local school through My Coke Rewards for Schools program. The good thing about donating points through that program is there is no minimum amount of points to donate.
On the flip side, I checked how much money points were worth for these donations. A 35-point My Coke Rewards donation is worth roughly 50 cents. Now if you used 40 points towards a free bottle of Powerade or a 20-oz Coca-Cola product, you could use the coupon to buy a free beverage at CVS, and if you donated what you saved by using the free coupon, you could donate more money to one of these causes.
You can save even more money at CVS this week by using coupons from the Wounded Warrior Project web site. There is a $1 off coupon for Wisk, which is on sale for 4.99. Wisk also is part of a Buy $12, Save $3 deal on SavingStar. The Wisk deal on SavingStar ends Nov. 30.
Well, I'm off to pick up a newspaper and get some of the free after extrabucks rewards deals at CVS. Catch you tomorrow.
