CVS is trying higher spending/higher rewards extrabucks rewards deals...

...and I'm not sure I'm a fan.

One of those is a choice between a Buy $30, Get $10 extrabucks rewards or Buy $50, Get $20 extrabucks rewards on products from the Johnson & Johnson family. Those products include:

Lactaid Fast Act 32-60 ct.
Tucks medicated ads 40-100 ct.
Carefree pantiliners 36-60 ct.
o.b. tampons 40 ct.
Listerine Pocketpacks 72 ct.
Motrin 100 ct., PM 20-80 ct.
Benadryl 24 ct., liquid 4 oz.
Splenda 100 ct. or Nectarisse 40 ct.
ANY Johnson's baby care, K-Y, Pepcid, Visine, or Bengay

Buying $30 worth of items, even with coupons, can be a stretch for me. Buying $50 worth is almost impossible.

But CVS has a link to Johnson & Johnson's Healthy Essentials coupon page where CVS shoppers can access the following coupons that can be used on this extrabucks rewards deal:

$1 off any Benadryl adult or children's product
$1 off any Motrin IB product
$1 off any Motrin PM product
$4/2 any Pepcid, Lactaid dietary supplement, Mylanta, or Tucks products
$1 off of any Splenda product
75 cents off of any Lactaid dietary supplement
$1 off of any Johnson's baby washcloths
$1 off of any Johnson's baby powder product (excludes 1 oz. and 4 oz. products)
$1 off of any Johnson's baby No More Tangles hair care product
$1 off of any Stayfree or o.b. tampon product
$1 off of any Carefree products 36 ct. or higher
(Trial sizes not included for any of the coupons)

I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to access any of the coupons because I'd used coupons from the site before. However, none of the coupons were blocked for me. But there is a limit of one use per coupon.

What also would help with this offer is that CVS once again sent out $3 extrabucks rewards coupons via email today. However, those extrabucks are good only until Wednesday.

Also, if you buy $8 worth of Stayfree, Carefree, or o.b. products towards the deal, you can go online and get up to $35 worth of fitness classes or wellness offers. The items have to be bought in one purchase. Be sure to click on the link to see if there are any offers available in your area before buying anything just to get the offers.

CVS also has a Buy $100, Get $15 extrabucks rewards deal on Gap Inc. brand cards. Forking over $100 for gift cards at one time is difficult for me, However, if you have plans to do back-to-school shopping and know you are going to spend at least $100 at any of the Gap Family of stores (Gap, Old Navy, or Banana Republic), you might as well buy and use the gift cards and use the $15 in extrabucks rewards on you CVS purchases. The $15 in extrabucks rewards would pay for half of the Johnson & Johnson deal if you do the Buy $30, Get $10 extrabucks rewards deal.

Will be back soon with more to save money at CVS this week.

Be a new you with hair color deals

(NOTE: In the initial version of this post, I mentioned a $3 coupon I had gotten from CVS via email and using it to help pay for this deal. On Thursday 6/25/13, I looked at the coupon, and it expired on Wednesday 6/24/13. I removed any references to the coupon in the updated version. dc)

Hair color is a great way to make a significant change to one's look, and CVS extrabucks rewards deals, plus coupons from other sources, can help you become a new you.

Garnier's Olia hair color is priced at $8.99 this week, and CVS shoppers also will get $2 in extrabucks rewards back. Coupons.com has a $2 coupon to make the deal even better.

There is also a $4 extrabucks rewards deal when CVS shoppers buy any two L'Oreal Hair Color products. Coupons.com has $2 coupons for L'Oreal Paris Healthy Look, L'Oreal Feria, or L'Oreal Wild Ombre. The two boxes of hair color also count toward the L'Oreal Gold Rewards program. With the purchase of five boxes of hair color, L'Oreal hair color users can get one free, or they can get a $3 coupon with the purchase of three boxes. In addition, if a enter a code from a L'Oreal Hair color box, you also can get a $1 coupon good toward the purchase of L'Oreal nail polish until July 31st.

I couldn't find any coupons for the Garnier Nutrisse hair color, but it is on sale at CVS this week for $6.99.

Be back with more deals before the end of the week.

CVS is being generous with ExtraCare Coupon Center and email coupons

(Note: in a previous version of this post, I mentioned $3 in extrabucks rewards I got via email. I looked at the email today (6/25/13), and noticed the coupon expired on 6/24/13. All references to that coupon have been edited out of this post. dc)

Usually one has to wait until Thursday to find out via email whether or not CVS will have a percentage off or dollars off of a minimum purchase. But this week's CVS weekly ad lets all CVS shoppers know that there is a $5 off a $25 minimum purchase awaiting them at the ExtraCare Coupon Center.

AND along with the $5 off a $25 purchase coupon, CVS shoppers will get a coupon for a free roll of Just the Basics paper towels. And if used along with the $3 extrabucks rewards and the $5 off of a $25 purchase coupon, it's an extra 79 cents that you don't have to come up with to get to $25!

In addition to getting those coupons, I have more coupons waiting for me at the ExtraCare Coupon Center. They include:

$3 off $2 Colgate Optic White or Total toothpaste (4 oz. or larger)
$2 off of 2 cough drops or throat lozenges (45 ct. or larger)
$1 off of any $5 deodorant purchase
$1 off any facial skincare purchase $5 or more

While I'm going to hold onto the last three coupons for awhile, I plan to use the one for the Colgate toothpaste towards the Buy $10, Get $5 extrabucks rewards deal on Colgate Total toothpaste (4.0-7.8 oz.), Total rinse (250-500ml), or 360-degree Floss-tip toothbrush. In addition to the $3 coupon from the ExtraCare Coupon Center, Coupons.com has a 75-cent coupon for the toothpaste.

I'm also contemplating taking advantage of other extrabucks rewards deal to get the a $25 total purchase. Will let you in on them as the week goes on. The first category I have in mind is hair color...

Save even more with these assorted beauty deals

If you haven't been to CVS this week, all ExtraCare cardholders will receive a 30 percent off of all regularly priced CVS items. And as I've said before, percentage off coupons can be applied to extrabucks rewards deals if the items aren't on sale.

So...

CVS has a Buy $12, Get $4 extrabucks rewards deal on CVS cosmetics, facial care, hair care, personal cleaning, and hand or body lotion products. Since 30 percent of $12 is $3.60, you would come close to getting $8 off on this deal.

Coppertone products (excluding twin packs and clearance items) are Buy $15, Get $5 extrabucks rewards this week. Coupons.com has $2/1 and $5/2 coupons to make the deal even better. To make the deal even better still, I got a $2 off of $10 coupon from the ExtraCare Coupon Center for any sunless tanner or sun protection purchase.

Coupons.com also has coupons that can be used on the Buy $15, Get $5 extrabucks rewards deal on Garnier Fructis stylers, shampoo, or conditioner; all Garnier Nutrisse hair color; and all Garnier skin products. Those coupons include a $1 off any Garnier Fructis shampoo, conditioner, or treatment and a $1 off any Garnier styling product. AND if all the Garnier products you buy for the deal are shampoo, conditioner, or styling products, there 's a coupon I got from the ExtraCare Coupon Center good for $3 off of any $15 shampoo, conditioner, treatment, or styling purchase. Since the Fructis stylers, conditioner and shampoo are all on sale for 3/$9, you could buy all of those items, get 5 coupons off of Coupons.com, use the $3 coupon, and the entire purchase would be $2 after extrabucks rewards.

I also got a $3 off of Revlon eye or lip cosmetics coupon from the ExtraCare Coupon Center this week. Revlon face, eye, or lip products are Buy 1, Get One 50 percent off this week. Coupons.com has a $2 coupon for Revlon foundation, BB cream, blush, concealer, or primer. There also is a $1 coupon on Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede lipstick.

Finally, CVS is running a $3 extrabucks rewards deal on all Revlon nail (with the exception of Color Art and clearance items). Additionally the nail products are on sale for $4.99.

Final note: I got at 20 percent off any regularly priced items coupon in my email yesterday. The coupon will work on any deal where the items aren't sale priced. However, I'm not sure if you can use both the 30 percent off coupon on CVS items and the 20 percent off coupon on all regularly priced items in one transaction. If you plan to use the 30 percent coupon on the CVS beauty products deal, I'd suggest using those in two separate transactions.

Sorry I've been away for awhile this week. It feels good to write another CVS Tips post. Will be on the lookout for good deals in next week's CVS circular.

Check out SavingStar for additional savings now and in the future

Sorry I haven't written anything lately. Had some things that took me away from CVS Tips for awhile. But I did want to make some time to tell everyone about the new SavingStar offers and how they can be used to save you money this and future weeks.

Just saw a few minutes ago that SavingStar has a Buy $30, Get $5 back on all Nestle frozen food products. Those include:

Hot Pockets
Lean Cuisine
Lean Pockets
Nestle Ice Cream
Dreyer's
Tombstone Pizza
Wonka Ice Cream
Edy's
Haagen-Dazs
Jack's Pizza
Skinny Cow frozen treats
California Pizza Kitchen Pizza
DiGiornio Pizza
Stouffer's
Purina Frosty Paws

Currently Nestle Ice Cream treats and Skinny Cow frozen treats are on sale for $3.99 a box. 14-oz containers of Haagen-Dazs are on special for 2/$7 as well. The SavingStar deal runs on these items until July 31, and these items can be bought in multiple trips.

Chex Mix is on sale for 99 cents a bag this week at CVS, and CVS shoppers can get 50 cents back from CVS as well. If just one bag isn't enough, there is a 50 cent coupon for 2 bags on Coupons.com.

There also is a Buy $15, Get $5 deal on Axe products. CVS seems to have a deal on those products regularly, and this would be an opportunity to save even more money when they are on sale at CVS. The SavingStar Axe deal ends August 29, so there is plenty of time to buy enough Axe products to get the $5 for SavingStar.

The earliest I will be back will be this weekend. Hope everyone has a wonderful Fourth of July!
