Should have read the coupon before I wrote my previous fragrance post

In a previous post, I mentioned the $15 off of a $35 purchase fragrance coupon from the CVS Beauty Club I received by email. I should have opened the coupon prior to writing the blog, because the offer is valid only on Halle, Beyonce, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Jovan, L' Air Du Temps, Nautica, Nina Ricci, Playboy, Stetson, Coty Wild Musk.

The problem is that the largest bottle of some of these fragrances I saw at my local CVS are priced below $35. For instance, the largest bottles of Beyonce fragrances I saw were priced at $34.49. To be able to use the coupon, you can take advantage today of the Buy 1, Get 1 50 percent deal on fragrances $12.99 and above and buy a smaller bottle of Beyonce fragrances and get the smaller one at half price. Then you can use the coupon to get $15 off of both fragrances.

However, if you decide to use the coupon tomorrow, you would have to use a different strategy. Although there will be a Buy 1, Get 1 50 percent off deal on fragrances on Sunday and Monday, it applies to fragrances $19.99 and above. At my local CVS, the smaller bottles of the Beyonce fragrances go for $19.49. which makes them ineligible to buy at half price along with a larger bottle of Beyonce. However, since they are under the $19.99 price, you can buy two bottles at $19.49 and be able to use the $15 coupon.

But if you don't want to try to figure out all of the ins and outs for the $15 coupon, fragrance sets go on sale tomorrow for 33 percent off. However, I remember getting a fragrance set for 50 percent off after Christmas, so you might want to wait until after Christmas to get a bargain price on one.

The ExtraCare Coupon Center is spitting out hair care coupons!

Note: This has been corrected to say that the coupon for the shampoo, conditioner, or styling products (excluding salon products) was for $1 off of 2 products. The previous version said it was $1 off of shampoo, conditioner, or styling products (excluding salon products). CVS Tips

I always love it when the ExtraCare Coupon Center spits out coupons that I am able to use. This week I received a $1 off coupon for 2 shampoo, conditioner, or styling products (excluding salon products) and a $1 off coupon on hair color.

The CVS weekly ad has several deals on which these coupons would come in handy. There are extrabucks rewards deals on Pantene and the Ever line of L'Oreal hair products. If you buy three Pantene shampoo, conditioner  or styling products, for $14, you will get $3 in extrabucks rewards. If you would get the $1 off coupon for shampoo, conditioner, or styling products, it would be like getting them for 3/$10. If you buy 2 products form the L'Oreal Ever line, you will get $5 in extrabucks rewards. The L'Oreal Ever shampoos and conditioners were priced at $6.99 apiece at my local CVS. Additionally, if you are a member of MyL'Oreal on the L'Oreal Paris USA site, you can get a $1 coupon to use on any Ever product. Adding the $1 off coupon for shampoo, conditioner, or styling products would bring the savings to $7, which would be like buying the shampoo and getting the conditioner for free.

Speaking of a Buy 1 Get 1 Free deal on shampoo and conditioner, if you buy Clear shampoo, you can get the conditioner for free. While I couldn't find a coupon for a regular sized bottle of Clear shampoo to use along with the $1 off coupon for shampoo, conditioner, or styling products, there is a coupon on the CVS website for a free sample bottle of the nourishing variety. While that can't be used to get the conditioner, the sample bottle would be handy for travel purposes.

There also are a few Buy 1, Get 1 50 percent off deals on shampoo, conditioner, and styling products in this week's CVS ad. They are for Fx, Organix hair care; Neutrogena shampoo or conditioner; and Shea Moisture hair care. Additionally, all TRESemme products are on sale for $3.99, and Pantene Expert shampoo and conditioner are on sale for $7.99.

As far as hair color is concerned, all L'Oreal Hair Color is on sale for Buy 1, Get One 50 percent off. The $3 coupons for Feria and Preference are still available on the CVS website, and the same coupons are available on Coupons.com. There is a $2 coupon for Healthy Look available to MyL'Oreal members on the L'Oreal Paris USA website. If you complete a Can I Help You consultation, you can get a $1 coupon good for any L'Oreal product.

The price of L'Oreal Feria at my local CVS is $9.99, and L'Oreal Preference sells for $9.49. Two boxes of L'Oreal Feria would be $14.99, and two boxes of L'Oreal Preference would be $14.24. If you two $3 coupons for Feria or Preference, that would take the price to $8.99 and $8.24 respectively. The CVS $1 off on hair color coupon would get the prices down to $7.99 and $7.24 for two boxes of Feria and Preference respectively.

You can also use the CVS $1 off on hair color coupon on Revlon ColorSilk hair color at 2/$6.99 and Clairol Nice 'n Easy hair color at $7.99.

Since I've lost my connection twice while writing this, it's probably a good idea to wrap up this post. More than likely, my next post will be on Saturday. Have a wonderful Friday!

Buy $30, Get $10 extrabucks rewards on diapers, Gillette products

CVS is making it easier to buy presents for little ones this holiday season by running a Get $30, Get $10 extrabucks rewards deal on Pampers and Huggies Jumbo Pack diapers and 168-216 count wipes.
The diapers are on sale for $2/20, and the wipes are $2/12.

$2 off coupons on a single package of Pampers diapers are still available in the coupon section of the CVS website as well as on Coupons.com. Coupons.com also has $2 coupons for Huggies Little Mover Slip-On diapers and $1.50 coupons for any Huggies diaper. Both the CVS website and Coupons.com have 50 cent coupons for Pampers wipes 60-ct or larger.

The Huggies website has 50-cent wipes coupons good on Huggies wipes. It also has the same $1.50 coupons for Huggies Little Mover Slip-On diapers as Coupons.com as well as $2 coupons for Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers. If you are able to wait until this weekend to make you Huggies diaper purchase and haven't completed the Easy On, Easy Off Challenge, you can get a $3 for Huggies by checking in five times through the promotion tab.

Anyone who uses Gillette shaving products can get $10 extrabucks rewards with a purchase of $30 worth of Gillette shaving products. Both men's and women's products are included in the offer, and the offer includes Gillette shaving cream as well.

One was to use the extrabucks rewards you receive from one or both deals is on the upcoming Buy $30, Get $10 extrabucks rewards deal on Procter & Gamble products that always comes up at CVS on the last Sunday of the month. If you did both the baby products and the Gillette shaving products deals this week, you could use the $20 in extrabucks rewards on Procter & Gamble products included in the upcoming deal
Since the Procter and Gamble coupon circular comes out on the same day as the Procter & Gamble Buy $30, Get $10 extrabucks rewards deal, you can get coupons to use toward that deal as well in addition to using the $20 in extrabucks rewards you could earn this week.

Additionally, if you still have any coupons left from this month's Procter & Gamble December circular, you can use those for the Procter & Gamble Buy $30, Get $10 extrabucks rewards deal until Dec. 31. There also were coupons for Pampers and Gillette products included in that circular which could be used on this week's Buy $30, Get $10 extrabucks rewards deals.

Get three greeting cards for as little as 97 cents (after coupons and extrabucks rewards)

While looking through this week's CVS ad, the $3 extrabucks rewards deal on three Anderican Greetings cards $1.99 and over caught my eye as something I might act on. However, when I was looking in the Deals section of the CVS website, I found a link to a coupon for $2 off of three American Greetings cards. If you buy three greeting cards at the $1.99 price ($5.97) and use the coupon, it would be like getting the three cards for 97 cents after the $3 extrabucks rewards.

This would be a good deal for anyone needing greeting cards that hold gift cards. Those usually run in the $1.99 range, and the cards would be less than the postage to send the gift cards off to friends and family far away.

Speaking of gift cards, there is a Buy $50, Get $10 extrabucks rewards deal on Gap, Baby Gap, Old Navy, and Banana Republic gift cards that ends on Saturday. Not only would these make great gifts, but if you shop at any of these stores on a regular basis, it would be a way to put aside some money to shop at one of these stores for the after-holiday sales and save $10 on a future purchase at CVS.

Since it is the 15th and the last day for quarterly and double quarterly extrabucks rewards, I'm headed to CVS to make one last shopping run to boost the extrabucks rewards I'll get back on Jan 1st.

Saw 50 and 75 percent off stickers on cosmetics at CVS!

On the way home from work last evening, I stopped by CVS to print out coupons from the ExtraCare Coupon Center that showed up in my ExtraCare account on the CVS website. While I was there, I strolled through the cosmetics area and saw lots of 50 percent and 75 percent on cosmetics items.

While those items aren't eliguble on extrabucks deals, you can use manufacturer's coupons on them and get some steals. Additionally, CVS Beauty Club members can the $4 off of any $20 beauty purchase coupons that CVS sent out earlier this week as well.

I noticed that many shades of Revlon nail polish had 75 percent stickers on them.  With the normal price for Revlon Colorstay is $7.99, and the price for Revlon Top Speed is $5.99 at my local CVS, shades that are marked at 75 percent off would be roughly $2 and $1.50 respectively. In comparison, Revlon nail polishes not on clearance are on sale for $4.99, and with a $3 extrabucks rewards, it would be like getting those for $1.99. While the price per bottle would roughly be the same for clearance Revlon Colorstay and 50 cents less per bottle for clearance Top Speed, you can get more clearance bottles for the same money out of pocket than you can with the $3 extrabucks rewards deal. Additionally, there is a limit of six purchases on the $3 extrabucks rewards deal.

On the other hand, clearance polishes generally are shades that haven't sold well, so if none of the clearance shades are appealing, buying a polish with the extrabucks rewards deal would be the better way to go.

Before I go, I would like to reiterate a reminder I made in a previous post. CVS Beauty Club totals go back to zero on Jan 1, 2013.  If you are close to getting a $5 in extrabiucks rewards, it might be a good time to stock up on products that are eligible for CVS Beauty Club rewards. But if you have a long way to go to get to another $5 in extrabiucks rewards, you might want to hold off on beauty purchases until the begining of the new year. After all, quarterly extrabucks rewrds, as well as the the double quartlerly extrabucks rewards, will be available on January 1, 2013, so you will have some extrabucks rewards to use on beauty purchases.

It's extrabucks rewards time on Revlon nail polish and select lipsticks

Next week, CVS shoppers once again can get $3 extrabucks rewards on any Revlon nail polish and $4 extrabucks rewards on Revlon Super Lustrous and ColorBurst lip products. This type of sale is the one time you should buy Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick from CVS, and this sale coincides with a topic I had planned to talk about in a post.

There was a post on the CVS Facebook page that claimed that CVS overcharges it customers on products and then gives customers the overcharge back in extrabucks rewards. While I didn't get a chance to read the article that was included with the post, I decided to do some price comparisons at Walmart with products I buy on a regular basis to see if there was any validity to the claim. I expected the everyday Walmart prices to be lower than everyday prices at CVS, but since I generally buy items when they are on sale at CVS, I could live with regular prices at Walmart being roughly the same as sale prices at CVS. On most of the products I looked at, I found that to be the case.

But when I compared the Walmart and CVS prices of Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick, I was stunned. The regular price of Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick at my local CVS is $8.99, but it sells for only $4.97 at my local Walmart. Even if you purchased two lipsticks this week at CVS with the Buy 1, Get 1 50 percent off deal on all Revlon makeup this week, each tube of Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick would still come out to be roughly $6.75 per tube ($8.99 + $4.50 = $13.49 / 2 = $6.745). It would be a worse deal to buy two tubes of Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick at CVS with a Buy $10, Get $4 extrabucks rewards deal that CVS runs regularly on Revlon cosmetics ($8.99 x 2 = $17.98 - $4.00 = $13.98 / 2 = $6.99).

So even with the $4 extrabucks rewards on Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick priced at $6.99 next week, you're actually saving only $1.98 over the everyday $4.97 price at Walmart ($4.97 - $2.99 = $1.98.

To be fair, I didn't figure in the 10 percent that CVS Beauty Club members would recoup from this week's sale price (Buy $50, Get $5 extrabucks rewards) or the 2 percent that CVS shoppers get on all of their purchases. I'm not sure if this would be accurate, but I took 12 percent of $6.99 and got roughly 84 cents (.8388). And added to the $1.98, you would save $2.82 over the $4.97 price on a tube of Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick at Walmart. Additionally, with the higher prices paid with the Buy 1, Get 1 50 percent off and Buy $10, Get $4 extraubucks rewards deals, the 10 percent and 2 percent figures would be higher with those deals.

The good news is that there you can get the $4 extrabucks rewards deal on Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick or Revlon ColorBurst six times. If you got a $4 off of $20 of beauty purchases coupon this week for being a CVS Beauty Club member and use the coupon before it expires on the 17th, you could use it toward three tubes of Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick to meet the $20 purchase requirement for the coupon.

There are some significant differences between the prices of Revlon nail polish at Walmart and CVS, but all of the math I did concerning the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick is making my head spin, so I will coment on that at a later time. Will come back refreshed with another post (or posts) some time this weekend.

Great time to stock up on Advil, Robitussin, and Dimetapp @ CVS

I really need to get a new pair of glasses. Even though I had planned to write about this deal today, I hadn't seen all the positives of the Buy 2, Get $3 extrabucks rewards deal on Advil, Robitussin, and Dimetapp products in this week's CVS ad the first time I looked at it.

All of the products in the deal are on sale for $4.99. The coupon section of the CVS website has several $1 coupons that can be used on products in this deal. The coupons are for any size Advil, any size Advil Congestion Relief, or Robutussin 20-count Cold + Flu. Coupons.com has the same coupons as those on the CVS website, and there is no limit to the number of coupons you can print from there. The Advil, Children's Advil and Robutussin websites have $1 coupons good on their products. The Dimetapp site has a $2 coupon that can be used on any of its products. If you used just $1 coupons on each of two products, it would be like a Buy One, Get One Free deal after using the coupons and getting the $3 extrabucks rewards.

The reason why I mentioned that you can print an unlimited number of coupons from Coupons.com is that there you can repeat this extrabucks rewards deal five times. That way you can either stock up on one of these items or get a variety of them. Also, if you plan to make multiple trips to CVS this week, you can buy two of the items on your first shopping trip and use the $3 extrabucks rewards earned on your first trip toward the the purchase of two more of the products and get another $3 in extrabucks rewards on a subsequent trip to CVS.

I know that I plan to take advantage of this deal when I get paid on Friday. I jokingly refer to Advil as one of my food groups, and my last Advil bottle is close to being empty.

Deals on Honey Nut Cheerios, Trix, and Air Wick

While I was hoping the beginning of December would bring as many multiple purchase deals on SavingStar as there were in November, that hasn't turned out to be the case. However, SavingStar does have two rebates that match up with deals featured in this week's CVS ad.

General Mills cereals, including Honey Nut Cheerios and Trix, are on sale at CVS for 2/$5 this week. Both cereals have 50-cent rebates on SavingStar as well as 50-cent coupons in the CVS coupon section of the website, which would make the final price of those cereals $1.50 each.

Also featured in the weekly CVS ad is a Buy $12, Get $4 extrabucks rewards on select Lysol, Air Wick, and Finish products. When I signed up for the Air Wick Fragrant Homes Club, I received a $2/2 any Air Wick products (excluding aerosols, Stick Ups, and solids). I then received a coupon for $1.50/2 any Air Wick products (excluding aerosols, Stick Ups, and solids) in my email. Fortunately, none of those are among the items featured in the Buy $12, Get $4 extrabucks rewards deal.

The $2 coupon could be used for Air Wick candles, which are sale for $6. Since buying two of those would meet the purchase requrement for the $4 extrabucks rewards, it would be like buying one candle for $6 and getting one free. If you have an Air Wick scented oil warmer, you could use both the $2/2 and the $1.50/2 coupons on five single scented oil refills, which are on sale for 2/$5. Five refills would cost $12.50, and with the $3.50 in coupons and the $4 extrabucks rewards, it would be the equivalent of buying 5 scented oil refills for the price of two.

See you tomorrow with deals on over the counter medicine.

Check your email for a $4 off $20 Beauty Club purchase

One of the benefits I enjoy about being a member of the CVS Beauty Club is getting special coupons at unexpected times, such as the $4 off of $20 in beauty purchases that came through my mail today.

The $4 coupon would make the Sally Hansen insta gel starter kit featured in the CVS weekly ad more affordable. Even with $3 extrabucks rewards being offered for the starter kit, it's priced at $29.99 at my CVS store. If you already own one, there is a link for a limited supply $5 coupon for the strips on the Sally Hansen Facebook page. Since the $3 extrabucks reward is good either on the kit or the strips, you would save $8 with the coupon and the extrabucks rewards. Since the strips are $14.99, you can't use the $4 off of $20 in beauty purchases coupon on just that beauty purchase, but you would need only $5.01 in beauty purchases to use the $4 coupon.

If there's nothing in this week's CVS ad that suits your beauty fancy, the $4 off of $20 in beauty purchases is good until Dec. 17, so you can use it next week. However, the CVS double extrabucks promotion ends on Saturday, so that might be something to consider.

Additionally, CVS Beauty Rewards purchase totals go back to zero on Jan. 1, 2013. You might want to check you CVS Beauty Rewards totals either on you next CVS receipt or online to see if it might be worthwhile to make some beauty purchases before Dec. 31.

L'Oreal Preference or Feria for under $5 (with coupon). Ends today!

I just saw $3 coupons for both L'Oreal Preference and L'Oreal Feria on Coupons.com. This week's CVS ad features either L'Oreal hair color for $7.99, which would make the final cost $4.99. If you sign up for the Gold Rewards program on the L'Oreal Paris USA site, you can get a free box of L'Oreal hair color with every five purchased.

Writing about this deal reminds me that my hair needs to be colored this evening. But before I go, I have a clarification of a CVS deal I mentioned in yesterday's CVS Tips. I discussed a $2 extrabucks rewards deal on Color Theory gift sets that starts tomorrow. The $2 extrabucks rewards deal is good only on the $9.99 sets.

CVS deals not to miss and those to wait on until Sunday

Parents of infants: you can get $4 in extrabucks rewards when you buy Jumbo Packs of Pampers for $9.99. To help out with that purchase even further, the CVS website has a coupon for $2 off on Pampers diapers.

For parents of infants that prefer Huggies, the Big Packs are on sale for $19.99. There is a $2 coupon for the Little Movers variety and a $1.50 coupon on the Snug & Dry variety on the Huggies website. The Huggies Jumbo Packs will be on sale for 2/$19 next week. I did some math on this deal. Even if you were able to use two $2 coupons next week on the Snug & Dry variety, you still would be sightly ahead by buying the Big Pack this week and have 10 more diapers to boot (72 versus 62).

While you're at CVS and thinking about taking advantage of the Buy $25, Get $5 extrabucks rewards deal on toys in this week's CVS ad, it would be better to wait until next week when toys are Buy 1, Get One 50 percent off. I'm holding out hope, though, that CVS will repeat the Buy 1, Get 1 Free deal they had for Black Friday.

There also are some beauty deals that will be better if you until Sunday to take advantage of them. This week's CVS ad features some Color Theory sets, but there will be a $2 extrabucks rewards deal on the $9.99 sets starting on Sunday. There also will be a $10 extrabucks rewards deal on Heidi Klum, JLo, Beyonce, Faith Hill, Celine Dion, Calvin Klein, Antonio Banderas, Nautica and Closer by Halle Berry fragrance sets that are priced from $19.99 to $29.99 starting then as well.

Will be back tomorrow and/or Sunday with more CVS Tips!

How I got a 100-ct bottle of Centrum Silver for $1.99

On Sunday I got a $5 coupon for select 100-count Centrum adult vitamins. While I felt that was a good enough deal to make me think about trying them, the coupon also said to check Sunday's paper for an additional Centrum coupon.

I was surprised the coupon would say that. I once tried to cash in a CVS and a manufacturer's coupon for the same item and was told I could not do that. However, if a CVS coupon was for a general category, such as vitamins, I could use it with a manufacturer's coupon for a specific product, such as Centrum vitamins. But I checked the CVS website, and it said you can use one CVS and one manufacturer's coupon per item.

When I got home, I found the Centrum coupon in my Sunday paper. It is for $3 off Centrum regular, Silver multivitamins, or Flavor Burst Chews. There is also a coupon for $5 off Centrum Specialist multivitamins. In case you didn't get Sunday's paper, there is a $3 coupon for Centrum Silver available on the Centrum website. There also is an offer for a sample of Centrum Flavor Burst Chews on the site.

There is a deal in the CVS weekly ad on select varieties of Centrum vitamins of varying counts for $9.99, and Centrum Silver was one of them. Becuase the ad said 60-125 count bottles of Centrum Silver, I wasn't sure I would find a 100-ct. bottle, but I did!

In addition, the purchase was a cent shy of meeting the $10 minimum purchase requirement to take advantage of yesterday's Deal of the Day, which was a free 6-pack of Vitamin Water. Since I also needed milk, and there is a $1 extrabucks rewards offer on it this week, I picked up a gallon.

Even though the CVS coupon inferred that I could use both the manufacturer's coupon and the CVS coupon simultaneously, I was afraid I couldn't, so I told the cashier my concern. But as the CVS coupon said, I was able to use both coupons! I also had enough extrabucks rewards on me to pay for $1.99 I owed for the vitamins and my milk, so all I owed was about $1.60 in tax, which was partially compensated by the $1 extrabucks rewards I got on the milk.

Thanks, CVS, for the opportunity to get vitamins for such a low price!

Get bags of Hershey's holiday candy for under $1 (after coupons and extrabucks rewards)

Lovers of Hershey's candy have a wide variety of ways to get $3 extrabucks rewards on Hershey's candy this week. But instead of spending $10 on four 7.8 to 8.5 ounce bags of Hershey's holiday candy to earn the extrabucks rewards, you need to spend only $6.90 if you use two coupons that are available online. And after the $3 extrabucks rewards, the four bags would come to $3.90, which is less than $1 a bag.

The Hershey's site has a coupon for $2/2 bags. The coupon can be used only once. However, Coupons.com has a coupon for $1.10/2 bags, and Coupons.com has no limit on the number of coupons you can print from their site. Since this $3 extrabucks reward can be earned twice, you could get a second extrabucks reward by using two $1.10/2 coupons from Coupons.com and spend only $7.80 for the second $3 extrabucks rewards deal. After the $3 in extrabucks rewards, the four bags for the second deal would come to $4.80, which is $1.20 a bag. While eight bags of holiday candy might be overkill for many, the Hershey's site has holiday craft ideas using Hershey's Kisses and Reese's holiday candy. These crafts would be a fun family activity for little money. I know when I was little, I always enjoyed making holiday decorations with my mother.

In case you were able to get a two-page coupon paper flyer that was available at CVS a few weeks ago, that flyer had a coupon for $2/2 bags of Hershey's Kisses, which could be used on this deal as well.

Tomorrow's deal involves a really good deal on Centrum Specialist vitamins that utilizes a coupon from the ExtraCare Coupon Center, so if you go to the ExtraCare Coupon Center, make sure to look for a Centrum Specialist coupon.

Beauty deal to take advantage of today (and one you should hold off on)

When I saw the $5 extrabucks rewards deal on any L'Oreal foundation, powder, blush or concealer in the present week's flyer, I didn't pay much attention to it. However, as I walked down the beauty aisle a couple of day ago, I realized what a good deal it was. I saw L'Oreal True Match for $10.99, so with the $5 extrabucks reward, it would be close to half price. Also, if you have a 20 percent off coupon to use this weekend, you could use it for this purchase because the items aren't on sale. Applying the 20 percent off coupon would make the deal even better.

As I mentioned previously, if you are a member of myL'Oreal, you can always go to the site and get coupons there. Although there aren't any coupons for any of the products listed above, you can get a $1 coupon good for any L'Oreal product by going through a "Can I Help You?" beauty questionnare/consultaiton of your choice. At the end, there will be a link to a coupon good for any L'Oreal product.

While there also is a Buy 1, Get One 50% off deal on L'Oreal skin care products this week, there is a Buy $30, Get $10 extrabucks rewards deal on L'Oreal skin care products starting Sunday. There also will be a Buy $12, Get $4 extrabucks rewards deal on all L'Oreal cosmetics.
